Mujica donated about 90% of his monthly salary to charity, declaring that he lived on the most unjust continent in the world, with the worst distribution of wealth.

An estimated 200 million children suffer from chronic undernutrition, and combined with repeated bouts of infectious disease, it causes an estimated 3.5 million preventable child deaths annually. The first 1,000 day window is critical because the physical and mental damage caused by undernutrition is largely irreversible after 2 years of age. In the film we look at a number of child-specific health-care interventions.

The film features people who have illegally bought and sold their kidneys and those who justify the illegal trade.

The war was brought to a controversial conclusion in 1999. However, trauma from that period lives on as evidenced by the testimonies of Nelson Belo, Gregorio Saldanha and Pascal Oliveira, survivors of the infamous 1991 Santa Cruz Massacre.
